Hoppers Use Seven Run Second, Top 'Claws 12-5 on Friday

GREENSBORO, NC - Abrahan Gutierrez had three hits and drove in two runs as Greensboro topped the BlueClaws 12-5 on Friday night at First National Bank Field.

GREENSBORO, NC - Abrahan Gutierrez had three hits and drove in two runs as Greensboro topped the BlueClaws 12-5 on Friday night at First National Bank Field.

After the BlueClaws (39-67) took the first two games of the series, Greensboro (46-58) has responded with wins on both Thursday and Friday nights.

Baron Radcliff opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first to give the BlueClaws a 1-0 lead, but Greensboro responded with seven runs in the second inning. The frame included a 2-run double from Gutierrez and a two run single from Emmy Ordonez.

Ethan Wilson (7) and Luis Garcia (2) each homered for Jersey Shore in the third and the fifth and Marcus Lee Sang drove in a run on a groundout in the sixth to cut the lead to 7-4. Greensboro, however, scored four more runs off Cristian Hernandez. two in the seventh and two in the eighth.

Mick Abel (7-8) took the loss, allowing six runs, four earned, in 1.1 innings of work. Carlos Francisco threw two scoreless innings in relief for Jersey Shore while Andrew Baker and Rodolfo Sanchez each threw one.

Santiago Florez (2-3) earned the win, allowing one run in 3.2 innings of relief.

Jase Bowen, Emmy Ordonez, Daniel Lopez, and Gutierrez all drove in two for the Grasshoppers.

Wilson and Nicolas Torres had two hits for Jersey Shore while Radcliff went 3-3 with a walk.

The teams continue their series on Saturday night. Andrew Painter is the scheduled starter for Jersey Shore.
