Opening Night at the Jersey Shore, set for Tuesday, May 4th, marks a historic night in BlueClaws history.
The team will play their first game as the Jersey Shore BlueClaws after an official re-brand in October. The BlueClaws revealed a fresh set of logos in October including a surfing crab, boogie boarding crab, a silhouetted crab, and a sunglasses emblem featuring a reflection of a Ferris wheel and roller coaster.
May 4th also marks the BlueClaws first game as the High-A affiliate of the Phillies, after playing the first 19 seasons as a Low-A team. Now, there are only two levels, Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley, between the BlueClaws and the Phillies. As part of moving to High-A and the High-A East league, the BlueClaws will welcome in a series of new opponents to the Shore this summer. Hudson Valley (Yankees), Brooklyn (Mets), Wilmington (Nationals), and Aberdeen (Orioles) will all be making their first visits to the Jersey Shore, and the BlueClaws 2021 schedule features 12 games against the Yankees and Mets affiliates.
The 2021 schedule also features 17 fireworks shows, including Opening Night and every Friday home game, plus Theme Nights that have been so popular over the years.
Finally, May 4th is the 20th Opening Night in BlueClaws history and the start of the team's 20th anniversary season. The BlueClaws recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of their first home game, April 11, 2001. This summer, the team will be recognizing milestones, key moments, and fan memories throughout the summer. The BlueClaws opened a boardwalk game area in centerfield, featuring traditional favorites like Hoop Shot, Cat Rack, Balloon Darts, Ring Toss, and Goblet Toss, plus a Mini Golf Course and Biergarten in 2018, helping to bring the best of the Jersey Shore to the ballpark that is home to the Jersey Shore’s team.
