Pineda's Big Day Keys Claws 2-1 Win Over Wilmington on Wednesday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Leandro Pineda had three hits including a go-ahead home run as the BlueClaws topped Wilmington 2-1 on Wednesday for their seventh straight win.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Leandro Pineda had three hits including a go-ahead home run as the BlueClaws topped Wilmington 2-1 on Wednesday for their seventh straight win.

The win is the seventh straight for Jersey Shore (16-13), matching their longest win streak from last year and from their time in High-A. The BlueClaws can tie the longest win streak in club history with a win on Thursday night.

The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the second inning on an RBI double by William Bergolla. He scored Leandro Pineda, who had singled. Wilmington tied the game in the third on a SAC fly from John McHenry.

Pineda broke the tie in the fourth, smashing a solo home run over the right-centerfield wall for his third home run of the season. All three of his long balls this year have come at ShoreTown Ballpark.

Starter Sam Aldegheri (3-0) struck out seven over six innings, allowing just one run. He escaped a bases loaded-one out jam in the fourth and then got stranded runners at 2nd and 3rd with two strikeouts to end the sixth. He's allowed two earned runs in 28 innings so far this season.

Danny Wilkinson got the next two outs. Trey Dillard added the next four. Andrew Walling threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his first save of the season.

Wilmington starter Andry Lara (2-4) took the loss, though he allowed just two runs in seven innings with a walk and two strikeouts.

The teams continue their series on Thursday night at 6:35 pm. RHP Estibenzon Jimenez starts for Jersey Shore.
