BlueClaws, Renegades Split Pair on Friday

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - The BlueClaws and Renegades split a double-header on Friday at Dutchess Stadium with Jersey Shore taking the opener 6-2 and Hudson Valley the nightcap 2-0.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - The BlueClaws and Renegades split a double-header on Friday at Dutchess Stadium with Jersey Shore taking the opener 6-2 and Hudson Valley the nightcap 2-0.

Hudson Valley (23-16) has now taken three of five in the series from Jersey Shore (17-22) with two games remaining.

Game One: The BlueClaws got five strong innings from Kevin Gowdy (1-3) in their 6-2 win in the opener on Friday. The right-hander, who earned his first professional victory, gave up two runs in five innings while striking out four. Aidan Anderson got the last six outs for his first save.

The BlueClaws took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single from DJ Stewart and then added a three-run home run from Jonathan Guzman, his first of the season, four a 4-0 first inning lead. Cole Stobbe scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning while Logan O'Hoppe added a seventh inning SAC fly to account for the final BlueClaws run.

Game Two: Hudson Valley held the BlueClaws to four hits as the Renegades won game two 2-0. Matt Minnick (2-0) threw 3.1 innings in relief to earn the win while Justin Wilson finished things off in the seventh to earn his third save.

BlueClaws starter Jonathan Hughes (2-2) gave up both runs over five innings of work. DJ Stewart had two hits for Jersey Shore. Ezequiel Duran drove in both runs for the Renegades.

The teams continue their series on Saturday night at Dutchess Stadium. The BlueClaws return home on Tuesday, June 29th to take on the Renegades at FirstEnergy Park.
