Renegades Top Claws 8-2 on Series Opener on Tuesday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Hudson Valley got home runs from Eduardo Torrealba and Trey Sweeney and topped the BlueClaws 8-2 on Tuesday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Hudson Valley got home runs from Eduardo Torrealba and Trey Sweeney and topped the BlueClaws 8-2 on Tuesday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

The BlueClaws (10-21/35-62) have lost 13 straight home games, seven of which have come to Hudson Valley (16-14/50-46).

Hudson Valley opened the scoring in the first inning when Tyler Hardman grounded into a double play allowing Trey Sweeney to score. The BlueClaws got on the board in the second on a SAC fly from Arturo De Freitas, playing in his first BlueClaws game.

The Renegades added runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth inning. Eduardo Torrealba homered, his second, for a 2-1 lead in the third. fter Carlos Narvaez doubled home a run in the fourth, Tyler Hardan's SAC fly made it 5-1 in the fifth.

Jersey Shore starter Matt Russell came out after 5.2 innings, allowing five runs, four earned, and took the loss.

Hudson Valley added three more runs in the eighth inning. Narvaez homered, his ninth of the year, and then Trey Sweeney hit a two-run home run, his 11th, to make it an 8-1 game.

Luis Garcia and Jared Carr each had two hits for the BlueClaws in defeat. Catcher Arturo De Freitas, making his BlueClaws debut, had a SAC fly, drew two walks, and threw out an opposing base-stealer.

The teams continue their series at 11:05 am on Wednesday morning.
