LANSING, Mich. - Coming off 14 days on the road, the Lansing Lugnuts (41-27) were glad to be back at Cooley Law School Stadium, treating a crowd of 8,104 to a 6-4 victory over the South Bend Cubs (34-33) on Friday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.
The night was a showcase for All-Star right-hander Maximo Castillo(Win, 5-2), whotossed five shutout innings, striking out five, while All-Star shortstop Kevin Vicunawent 4-for-5 with three RBIs four days prior to the Midwest League All-Star Game presented by LAFCU.
South Bend starter Jesus Camargo(Loss, 2-2) gave up a Brock LundquistRBI double in the first, a Vicuña RBI double in the second, a Vicuña RBI triple in the fifth, and a Vicuña RBI single in the sixth inning, finishing with five runs allowed on eight hits and two walks in 5 2/3.
Brandon Grudzielanekand Andres Sotilloeach went 2-for-4 to supplement the Lugnuts' offense, while Brayden Boucheyand Emerson Jimeneztossed two innings apiece.
Cubs All-Star first baseman Jared Young knocked a three-run homer in the ninth inning to close out the scoring.
