DES MOINES, IA – Lorenzo Cedrol and Isiah Gilliam record an RBI double each in multi-hit efforts to lead the Louisville Bats (46-64) 5-3 over the Iowa Cubs (49-61) on Saturday night at Principal Park.

[Box Score]

A pitcher’s duel to start, both Deck McGuire and Hayden Wesneski were dialed in from the first pitch. Neither offense could get much going, only tallying two hits each through the first three innings.

Iowa recorded the first runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on an RBI double and a bases-loaded ground out to take a 2-0 lead.

In the following half inning, the Bats answered with a crooked number to get on the scoreboard. Juniel Querecuto and Ronnie Dawson each got on base to start the inning and were quickly brought home on back-to-back RBI hits from Chuckie Robinson and Isiah Gilliam, a single by Robinso and double by Gilliam, to even the score 2-2. After an I-Cubs pitching change, Lorenzo Cedrola hit a second consecutive Louisville double to score Gilliam and Dawson to take a 4-2 lead. Cedrola was brought home two batters later on an RBI groundout from Cristian Santana to give the Bats a 5-2 lead and cap off the big inning.

The I-Cubs scratched one more run across in the sixth inning but that would be all as the Bats cruised to a 5-3 victory.

Louisville and Iowa will play the final game of the series tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 2:08 pm E.T. Right-hander Levi Stoudt (0-1, 7.20) will make his second start of the week for the Bats as he takes on fellow righty Matt Swarmer (3-1, 2.55) for the I-Cubs.
