Three-Run Seventh Helps Clippers Knock Off Bats, 3-2
Dumatrait (L, 10-6) was dominant for six innings, giving up only two hits while striking out six. But in the seventh Korey Casto led off with a double, and Abraham Nunez followed with a two-run home run to tie the game. Larry Broadway then doubled down the left field line, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Juan Brito.
Clippers starter Billy Traber pitched well in five innings of work, giving up just one run on five hits while striking out six in a no-decision. Jonathan Albaledejo (W, 2-0) pitched two-innings in relief to earn the win and allowed two hits and one run. Chris Booker came on in the ninth to earn his 29th save of the season.
Aaron Herr homered for the Bats and went 3-for-4 on the night. Joey Votto hit his team leading 22nd home run while going 1-for-4, and Dumatrait went 2-for-2, his first hits of the season.
The Bats take on the Clippers in the third of the five game homestand tomorrow at 6:15. Louisville's RHP Tom Shearn (7-10, 4.20) is scheduled to start and will take on Columbus' LHP Chris Michalak (5-6, 3.03).
