SABR Chapter Meeting, January 27

On Saturday, January 27, the Pee Wee Reese Chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) will hold its annual SABR Day meeting at the Louisville Slugger Museum, 800 W. Main Street, Louisville, KY, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The public is welcome and invited to attend this meeting and to sample the benefits of SABR membership for baseball fans.
Founded in 1971, SABR is the oldest and foremost organization devoted to baseball history, biography, statistics, traditions, legends and all "sabermetric" aspects of the game, such as WHIP, WAR and OPS.
There will be two main speakers:
JOHN ERARDI, Cincinnati Enquirer sports columnist and author. John's presentation will be "Tony Perez: From Cuba to Cooperstown." Erardi covered the Reds for 31 seasons at the Enquirer, and is a two-time winner of the Ohio AP Sports Writer of the Year and three-time winner of the Ohio AP General Excellence Award. He has written six books about the Cincinnati Reds.
JOE COX, author of Almost Perfect: The Heartbreaking Pursuit of Pitching's Holy Grail. Joe's presentation is titled "Quest for Perfection." A SABR member since 2014, Cox will soon release another book: The Immaculate Inning, Unassisted Triple Plays, 40/40 Seasons and the Stories Behind Baseball Rarest Feats. He has also contributed to five other sportsbooks. A lifelong Kentuckian, Cox practices law, and lives near Bowling Green.
Trivia guru Dr. Jack Sullivan will present a 25-question Trivia Contest, with cash prizes to the winner and runner-up.Door prizes, including a free one-year membership to a current non-member, will be given away during the meeting.
The Pee Wee Reese SABR Chapter, composed of baseball fans throughout Kentucky, offers the opportunity to everyone with a common passion for baseball to meet and share common interests.
