After rain pushed the finish of Saturday night’s game to Sunday evening, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans outlasted the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 4-3 courtesy of a walk-off sacrifice fly by Drew Bowser in the 12th. The following game was postponed due to inclement weather and will be made up with the Pelicans' travel to Kannapolis in June. The Birds now stand at 4-10 while the Cannon Ballers finish the week 7-7.

Andy Garriola (1-6, 2B, 3 RBI) led the Pelicans’ lineup by driving in three runs. The only other RBI came from Bowser (1-3, RBI, 2 BB) on the game-winning sacrifice fly. It was the first walk-off win for the Pelicans this season.

After pitching the top of the 12th on Sunday, Jeral Vizcaino (2-0) picked up the win with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts. Starter Juan Bello tossed four scoreless innings with five strikeouts on Saturday without allowing a hit.

The Cannon Ballers were held to just four hits with Albertson Asigen (2-6, RBI) collecting the only multi-hit game. Caden Conner (0-3, RBI, 2 BB) and Ryan Galanie (1-4, RBI) brought home the other two runs for the Cannon Ballers.

After allowing the winning run, reliever Christian Edwards (2-1) took the loss and got just one out in the 12th. Starter Lucan Gordon allowed the two-run double by Garriola but struck out six in his 3 1/3 frames.

Garriola got the scoring going in the bottom of the third. With runners on first and second, he lined a double to left that brought home both to give the Pelicans the lead 2-0.

Kannapolis responded by taking the lead in the fifth. Dominic Hambley came in and loaded the bases on two walks and a hit by pitch. Asigen followed with an infield single to first that moved everybody up and scored the first run. Connor was hit by a pitch right after to tie the game. Galanie followed with a line drive up the middle to give the Cannon Ballers a 3-2 lead.

Both teams stayed quiet until the Pelicans tied it up in the bottom of the ninth. After hitting a single, stealing second, and moving to third on a wild pitch, Cristian Hernandez scored on a groundout to first by Garriola to tie the game 3-3.

After playing two frames of extra baseball, rain paused the game entering the 12th inning Saturday night and pushed the game to Sunday evening.

After the Pelicans loaded the bases in the bottom half of the 12th, Bowser lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that brought home the winning run from third to end the game.

The Pelicans start their two-week road trip on Tuesday night at 6:30 for the series opener against the Lynchburg Hillcats.
