Young caps three-hit night with walk-off over Hillcats

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (July 28, 2018) - Jared Young drove in Aramis Ademan in the bottom of the 12th inning to spur the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to a 1-0 win on Saturday night over the Lynchburg Hillcats from TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. 
The Pelicans (48-58, 14-22) went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position in the first 11.1 innings. With Ademan on third, Young delivered a single off of Hillcats (49-54, 20-16) reliever Micah Miniard (2-5) for his third hit of the night, which ended the ballgame.

Ryan Kellogg (3-1) earned the win for the Birds with his two shutout innings out of the bullpen. Bryan Hudson (6.2 innings) and Erick Leal (3.1) were brilliant in their scoreless efforts as well. 
The shutout was Myrtle Beach's 13th of the season, second in the Carolina League behind Buies Creek's 16 blankings. 
Both Young and Jhonny Pereda extended their on-base streaks to 19 games on the night. Andruw Monasterio holds the longest on-base streak for the Pelicans this season at 20 games from June 6-28.

Sunday is Christmas in July, National Lampoon's style. Santa Claus and Cousin Eddy will be on hand for a festive night. In addition, Sunday's game is an Ultimate Kids Sunday featuring free inflatables, face painting, balloon artists and a pregame on-field catch. After the game, there will be a postgame fireworks show presented by East Coast Pyrotechnics.
