(Reading, PA) - The Reading Fightin Phils have announced that new Philadelphia Phillies manager Joe Girardi and Phillies outfielder Roman Quinn will headline the Baseballtown Caravan and Phillies Winter Tour, set to take place at the Crowne Plaza Reading on Tuesday, January 21st.
The Phillies hired Girardi as the 55th manager in franchise history on October 24th, signing him to a three-year contract with a club option for 2023. The former big league catcher has amassed 11 years of Major League managing experience with the then-Florida Marlins (2006) and the New York Yankees (2008-17), with a career record of 988-794.
Girardi earned 2006 National League Manager of the Year honors with the Marlins, and a World Series title with the Yankees in 2009. He led the Yankees to the playoffs in six of his 10 seasons at the helm.
Quinn has appeared in 109 games at the big league level, swiping 23 bases in 28 chances. A former second round draft pick by the Phillies out of Port St. Joe High School (FL) in 2011, the 26-year-old made his Baseballtown debut in 2015.
In 132 games total as a member of the Fightin Phils, Quinn hit .293 with 12 triples, 10 home runs, and 60 stolen bases in 78 attempts. Despite three IL stints, Quinn appeared in 44 games for the Phillies last year and was a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen bases.
The Baseballtown Caravan is set to begin with a family-friendly cocktail party and light snacks from 5:30-7 p.m. before the full program gets underway. Both Girardi and Quinn will be available to the media prior to the main event.
The night will feature the crowning of Greg Edge as the 2020 King of Baseballtown, and Phillies players, coaches, and front office staff will speak to the crowd and answer questions. The event will also feature raffles with sports collectibles, plus highlight videos and more.
Tickets are on sale now, and fans can purchase individual admission to the event for $25. Tickets are just $20 when purchasing ten or more. Children ages 4 and under are admitted free of charge.
