BOX SCORE BINGHAMTON 2 READING 0

The Fightins dropped game one of a six game set against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 2-0, as the Reading faithful got to see a special pitcher’s duel.

Francisco Morales pitched his best start of the season, allowing just one earned and striking out nine in five innings of work. The lone run he allowed was via a homerun to Will Toffey in the fourth, but before that the right hander allowed just four batters to reach, only one of them winding up past first.

The R-Phils then called on a southpaw from the bullpen, as Kyle Dohy kept it close by only allowing one earned run on a solo homerun to Nick Meyer in his inning of work.

Brian Marconi took the mound next, and he kept the score 2-0 by pitching the next two innings scoreless. He gave up three hits and punched out two batters, as he worked out of a one-out jam that included a lengthy injury delay.

Zach Warren finished the day for the R-Phils pitching staff, as he sat down the Rumble Ponies in order to give Reading a chance to muster up a comeback.

However, Reading’s offense was unable to get anything going, as the combination of Josh Walker and Andrew Mitchell only allowed one two Fightins to reach base, one via error and the other on a walk.

Walker ended his day after six innings pitched despite being only at 79 pitches, as the starter had to leave due to an injury he sustained during his at bat. Thankfully for him, Mitchell went nine up, nine down for the final three frames, completing the historic performance for Binghamton.
