Rip It Baseballtown Charities gets a new look, set to re-open

Reading, Pa—1st December, 2022- Rip It Baseballtown Charities is happy to announce their grand reopening event on Saturday, December 10 from 11am-5pm, to celebrate the completion of renovations. The celebration will include free tunnel space for teams (who register in advance) and roaming instruction from the area’s top baseball & softball instructors. The renovations are headlined by four brand new turf tunnels, which now provides the facility with six tunnels in total. The tunnels will vary in size, ranging from 48-68 feet in length. Dividers between tunnels can be adjusted in order to create a larger playing surface for additional training purposes.

“This is an exciting time for Rip It Baseballtown Charities,” says Stephen Thomas, Director of Baseballtown Charities/Rip It. “With the additional turf tunnel space, we are going to be able to help so many more area teams and athletes improve their baseball and softball skills.”

All tunnels will include an L screen, pitching mound, hitting tee, hitting mat, and a bucket of baseballs or softballs. All will be available to the public for year-round training, allowing access for individual and team rentals, private lessons, clinics and much more. A baseball and softball Jr. Hack Attack pitching machine is also available for rent when reserving tunnel space. A new reservation system will be used going forward to handle the management of all tunnel usage.

The new turf tunnels replace four automated batting cages that were originally in the facility. Individuals with remaining balances on their batting cage hit cards can use their balance towards tunnel and pitching machine rentals.

As always, all proceeds will benefit Baseballtown Charities, the official non-profit organization of the Reading Fightin Phils, which provides boys and girls in Berks County with the opportunity to play baseball and softball.

Rip It Baseballtown Charities is located at 1037A MacArthur Road, Reading, PA. The facility is just off Route 183 near Reading Airport, across from Penn State Health St. Joseph Hospital.
