The Wingin’ It Podcast is the official podcast of the Rochester Red Wings launched in March 2020. The podcast – hosted by Red Wings Director of Communications Nate Rowan and Director of Broadcasting Josh Whetzel – focuses on news, notes, interviews and a behind-the-scenes look at everything going on with the Red Wings and Frontier Field.

Episode 10: Naomi Silver Interview and a Flashback with Joe Altobelli

Nate Rowan talks to Red Wings President/CEO/COO Naomi Silver (3:05) about her life in baseball, when she realized what her dad had done to save the team in Rochester, and her proudest moment working for the team thus far. Josh Whetzel flashes back to a game he did on the radio with Joe Altobelli on his birthday back in 2008 (41:23). Alto turns 88 on Tuesday, May 26th.

Episode 9 - Bob Matthews Interview

Josh Whetzel talks with local media member Bob Matthews, who retired abruptly on Friday, May 8 after a long career that included the Times-Union, Democrat & Chronicle, and most recently at NewsRadio WHAM 1180 (3:09). Bob discusses how he got started in sports media, his first year on the Red Wings beat in 1971, and how his life could have turned out differently had it not been for certain events in Vietnam.

Episode 8 - Randy Dobnak Interview, KBO Discussion, and a Flashback

Nate Rowan and Josh Whetzel talk to former Red Wing Randy Dobnak about his involvement with St. Jude Children's Hospital, his wild 2019 season, and what it was like pitching at Yankee Stadium in the postseason (3:14). Nate and Josh also discuss the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) and the three former Red Wings playing in that league this season (33:30). Former Rochester Red Wings manager Marv Foley joins Nate Rowan, Josh Whetzel, and Dan Mason to discuss his memories of opening Frontier Field in 1997, a season that ended with the Wings winning their 10th Governors' Cup (1:42). Josh and Nate also discuss the passing of former Red Wing Steve Dalkowski who was the inspiration for the character Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh in Bull Durham, which was directed by former Wing Ron Shelton (23:51).
