Red Wings Announce 2019 Opening Night Plans

The first 1,500 fans will receive a reversible Plates and Wings winter hat

The Rochester Red Wings begin their 23rd season at Frontier Field on Thursday, April 11 vs. the Lehigh Valley IronPigs! Gates will open at 4:30 with first pitch of the 2019 home slate set for 6:05 pm.

PURCHASE TICKETS HERE. If you prefer to purchase in person, the Red Wings Ticket Office is open Monday-Friday from 9 am - 5 pm and Saturdays 10 am - 2 pm.

Here's everything you need to know for Opening Night:

FIRST PITCH: Throwing out the season's ceremonial first pitch is Alayna Berry - the Spencerport native who was the inspiration for the first ever softball player to be featured on a pack of Big League Chew. Alayna's grandfather is Red Wings Hall of Famer Bob Bonner who will be catching her first pitch.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: The Anthem will be performed by Pete DuPre'. "Harmonica Pete" has been playing his harmonica at major military events around the world for the last 5 years with The Greatest Generations Foundation. He is an active member of Honor Flight Rochester and plays at several of their airport homecoming events. DuPre', 95, served as an Army Medic during the Battle of the Bulge, working in a hospital in England. He graduated from Edison Tech and is an RIT alumni. 

COLOR GUARD: Presenting the colors on Opening Night will be the Rochester Recruiting Company with representatives from Webster Recruiting Station.

LIVE MUSIC: Local party band, Me and The Boyz, will perform on field throughout the pre-game festivities.

GIVEAWAYS: The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a Red Wings and Plates Reversible Winter Hat presented by Dunkin'. The first 5,000 fans will take home a 2019 Schedule Magnet courtesy of the Democrat and Chronicle.

51 DEGREE GUARANTEE: If the in-park thermometer doesn't read 51 degrees at first pitch, all fans in attendance will get a FREE ticket to another game in April or May. More on the 51 Degree Guarantee here.

UNIFORMS: Although Thursdays Are For The Plates, the team will be wearing Red Wings uniforms to honor the tradition of Opening Night.

PLATES SPECIALS: Since it is a Thursday, fans will be able to grab the following specialty plates: Plate Dog at Sup Dog, Chicken Finger Plate at Batter Up, Compost Can at Ice Cream Plus and a Fried Dough Plate at the Sweet Spot.

MILITARY TICKETS: Active, retired, reserved and veterans can get a FREE ticket to Opening Night by stopping by the VOC of Rochester at 447 South Avenue to get tickets.

COLLEGE STUDENTS: Every Thursday, college students can purchase a $10 reserved ticket which includes 5 Diamond Dollars that can be used at the concession stands and the Team Store.
