The Rochester Red Wings faced off against the Worcester Red Sox in the fifth of a six-game set at Innovative Field Saturday night. The Wings collected seven runs on 11 hits on their way to a 7-6 win.

In the second inning, 2B Darren Baker hit a bases-clearing double for the Wings as CF* Derek Hill*, C Kevin Plawecki, and RF Cody Wilson all scored. After not scoring in the first, Rochester’s streak of posting runs in the first frame was halted at five games (since 5/7).

The score remained the same until the fifth, when Worcester got on the board via a solo home run. Rochester answered in the bottom half on a 1B Matt Adams RBI single, bringing home LF Travis Blankenhorn. Adams came around to score a batter later as 3B Franklin Barreto launched a two-run shot, his sixth of the year and second in as many days to make the score 6-1 after five innings.

The WooSox came back to tie the game in the fifth, scoring five on a three-run homer and two run double. Rochester retook the lead in the bottom half of the seventh, courtesy of a Matt Adams double, his second RBI of the night, to make the score 7-6 heading into the eighth.

Wings pitching locked down the final six outs as RHP *Tyler Danish *recorded his second career save, and Rochester took home a 7-6 win.

RHP *Tommy Romero *took the ball to start the game for the Wings and delivered three scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out a pair. Four relievers were used to cover the final five innings, as they combined to allow three earned while striking out five. RHP *Gerson Moreno *(1-2, 4.32) earned the win for the Wings, while LHP Oddanier Mosqueda took the loss for the WooSox.

Matt Adams, who drove in the game-winning RBI double in the eighth, has been named Diamond Pro Player of the Game. The big lefty went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored in the win.

Rochester is back in action on Mother’s Day for the series finale as the Wings look to wrap up their third series win of the year. First pitch is set for 1:05 pm.
