The Rochester Red Wings buried the Durham Bulls, 8-2 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon. The win secured a series victory, their first since 6/13-18 against SWB. DH Jacob Nottingham drove in a game-high four RBI, while the Wings’ bullpen did not allow a hit through three innings in relief. After seven and a half innings, rain washed out the final five outs, capping the game to give the Wings the win.

Durham got on the board in the top of the first inning, taking an early 1-0 lead over the Red Wings. 1B Austin Shenton collected an RBI double that plated DH Jonathan Aranda to begin the day for the Bulls. Durham added to their lead in the top of the second inning, taking a 2-0 lead when Aranda brought in C Blake Hunt on an RBI single. After going scoreless through three innings, DH Jacob Nottingham launched his second homer with the Wings, a game-tying two-run home run over the left field wall.

The long ball was Nottingham’s first two-run homer since 4/18 with TAC, and second game-tying RBI with the Wings. Rochester took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, moving the lead to 3-2 on an RBI single from 2B Erick Mejia that scored CF Derek Hill. Nottingham followed up his long ball the next inning with a two-RBI double that gave the Wings a 5-2 advantage. 1B Matt Adams extended Rochester’s lead with an RBI single, the lefty’s fifth hit through six games against Durham.

SS Richie Martin continued the inning with a sacrifice fly out to left field that brought in Adams and gave Rochester a 7-2 lead. Hill capped off the five-run inning with an RBI single hit up the middle that scored C Drew Millas, extending the lead to 8-2. Rochester arms retired the final 19 Durham batters before a rainout in the bottom of the eighth inning with one out forced the end of the game.

RHP Wily Peralta started on the mound for Rochester, working five innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking one. Peralta, who recorded his second-most punch outs in an outing this season, overtook RHP Joan Adon for the team lead in strikeouts (73). RHP Luis Reyes (4-0, 5.22) went two perfect innings in relief of Peralta, collecting two strikeouts while earning the win. RHP Luis Cessa capped off the shortened win with a perfect inning in relief, striking out a pair in the outing.

DH Jacob Nottingham earned Sunday’s Diamond Pro Player of the Game honors after going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a double, four RBI, a walk and a run. This marked his first two-run shot since 4/14 with Tacoma and his second four-RBI game of the season, first with the Wings.

Rochester finished the afternoon going 2-for-4 on ABS Challenges, while Durham went 1-for-1.

The Red Wings have Monday off and will head to Worcester to begin a two-week road trip that will also take them to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. RHP Jackson Rutledge is set to take the mound in the opening matchup with the WooSox. First Pitch Tuesday is set for 6:45 p.m.
