ROME, Ga – Ian Mejia struck out eight in his 23rd start of the year, but the Braves mustered just four hits in the 4-1 loss to the Asheville Tourists Saturday evening.

The Braves would get the offense started in the bottom of the 3rd, as Atlanta Braves rehabber Ehire Adrianza sent a rocket into right center field putting him on second with no outs. Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. reached on base with a single putting a man on first and third. A David McCabe ground out advanced Adrianza from third to home putting the Braves up 1-0.

Mejia started the 4th inning right where he left off by striking out Zach Cole and Ryan Wrobleski however, two straight walks and a single from Tommy Sacco Jr. put the Tourist up 2-1. The Braves then went to a pitching change in the top of the 6th inning entrusting the RHP from New Orleans Tyree Thompson. Thompson would let up two singles putting runners on first and second with no outs, bringing up the hot bat of Tommy Sacco Jr. Sacco sends a ball into center field allowing Tyler Whitaker and Miguel Palma to score pushing the lead to 3. Thompson would exit the game at the top of the 7th allowing 3 hits and two earned runs.

With Thompson's departure the Braves hand the ball to the Milford Connecticut right hander Rob Griswold. Griswold would finish the game for the Braves going 3 innings with 3 hits and no runs allowed. The Braves went into the bottom of the 9th being down 3 runs but ultimately came up short going three up three down.

Rome looks to bounce back and win the series against the Tourist tomorrow afternoon at 1:00pm in the 2023 season finale.
