Express Handle Chihuahuas For 6-3 Win on Wednesday

El Paso SS Clay Dungan opened the night with a walk and a stolen base. Dungan moved to third on a DH Trenton Brooks single and scored on a RF Yonathan Perlaza sacrifice fly to grab a 1-0 advantage in the first.
The Express scored in the second as C Cooper Johnson sent CF Michael Helman home on a RBI single. SS Alan Trejo got aboard with a bunt single then DH Justin Foscue belted his ninth home run of the year. Foscue’s three-run blast put the E-Train ahead 4-1.
The Chihuahuas plated a run in the top of the fifth as CF Bryce Johnson traded places with LF Forrest Wall on his RBI double. Johnson’s double cut the El Paso deficit to 4-2.
Round Rock RF Dustin Harris led off the bottom of the eighth with a solo homer to right field. 3B Cody Freeman got on with an infield single and CF Michael Helman drove him in with a base hit, extending the E-Train lead to 6-2.
In the top of the ninth, El Paso C Rodolfo Durán singled up the middle sending 1B Tim Locastro around to score. RHP Codi Heuer retired the next two batters via strikeouts and secured the save to give Round Rock a 6-3 victory.
E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:
ROUND TRIPPERS FOR ROUND ROCK: DH Justin Foscue and RF Dustin Harris’s home runs on Wednesday mark the 14th and 15th home runs for the Express since June 1, which ranks first in the PCL. Round Rock also owns a league-best .881 OPS this month.
NOTHING EASY: The Express issued just three walks in Wednesday’s win. Round Rock is now 17-9 when allowing three walks or less.
CAN’T CATCH ‘EM: CF Michael Helman recorded two stolen bases on Wednesday night. The Express now lead all of Triple-A with 17 stolen bases in June. They are also one of three teams that has not been caught stealing this month.
