HOW IT HAPPENED:

Round Rock plated four runs on three hits in the bottom of the first. With two outs, DH Blaine Crim hit his 12th home run of the year to put the Express on the board. RF Kellen Strahm singled and LF Trevor Hauver walked which set up CF Michael Helman’s three-run homer to give the E-Train a 4-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth, the Chihuahuas cut the deficit to one as SS Clay Dungan hit a three-run double to make it 4-3. The Express plated three more in the bottom of the sixth. C Tucker Barnhart was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded then 3B Alan Trejo drove two runners in with a single up the middle. Round Rock led 7-3 after six.

Express LF Trevor Hauver led off the eighth with a double and later scored on a RHP Raul Brito wild pitch. Round Rock loaded the bases and 2B Cody Freeman blasted the club’s first grand slam of the year sending the Express to a 12-3 victory.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

EARLY AND OFTEN: DH Blaine Crim and CF Michael Helman gave the Express a 4-0 lead with their home runs in the first inning. It is the first time the E-Train have had multiple homers in the first frame since OF Elier Hernandez and Crim did it on September 19, 2023 in Tacoma.

CRIM OF THE CROP: Crim now has 54 career round-trippers with the Express which ties C Sam Huff and INF Davis Wendzel for fifth in club history. The infielder is just the fourth player in the PCL with 50 RBI this season. He is third in the PCL.

GRAND SALAMI: 2B Cody Freeman extended his hitting streak to 13 consecutive games with Round Rock’s first grand slam of the year. Freeman’s 13-game streak is the second-longest active streak in Triple-A. He also owns a 16-game on-base streak. He is slashing .383/.413/.700 with four doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI in the hitting streak that dates back to May 27.
