Express to Host Pitching Autism Awareness Night

Proceeds will go to benefit three Austin-area non-profits
June 4, 2010

ROUND ROCK, Texas - June 7 will be a special night at The Dell Diamond - aside from the fact that it is $1 hot dog night.

That night, Round Rock Express Baseball Club hosts the inaugural Pitching Autism Awareness event at The Dell Diamond as the Express host the Nashville Sounds. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.

The event benefits three Austin-area non-profit organizations: the National Austism Association of Central Texas, the Autism Society of Greater Austin and Autism Speaks of the Greater Austin Community.

Discounted tickets are available at $9 for box seats and $5 for berm seating. These tickets can be ordered only through a special online form found at www.RoundRockExpress.com/specialgroupnights. A portion of the proceeds goes to benefit the three non-profit organizations.

Gluten-free concessions options will be available at certain stands, and each of the three organizations will have booth representation on the concourse outside the United Heritage Center. There will be an autism bracelet and two different ribbon pins for sale in the Railyard Team Store with proceeds benefiting the organizations.

Actor Jesse Plemons, who plays Landry Clarke on the television show "Friday Night Lights," will be in attendance to throw out the ceremonial first pitch that night in support of autism awareness.
