Express to Host Free Coaching Clinic

May 27, 2011

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Round Express Baseball Club announced Friday that they will host a free coaching clinic on June 4, 2011. The clinic will be held on the field at The Dell Diamond from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. CDT.

The clinic will include instruction on throwing/pitching, hitting, infield/outfield techniques, treating and preventing injuries, and field preparation and maintenance.

Current Express coaches and players will run the baseball instruction including hands-on advice. Express athletic trainer Jason Roberts, Express strength and conditioning coordinator Ric Mabie and team orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Steve Wilson will run the treating and preventing injury section of the clinic. The Dell Diamond's head groundskeeper Garrett Reddehase will run the field preparation and maintenance part of the clinic.

"We are very excited to host this clinic at The Dell Diamond," Express Director of Baseball Outreach Chris Almendarez said. "This clinic is going to give coaches all the information they will need to run a successful program. They will learn everything from baseball technique to injury prevention to field maintenance."

All coaches interested in the clinic are asked to visit any central-Texas Academy Sports + Outdoors store to register. All coaches in attendance will be entered into a drawing for a $250.00 equipment shopping spree at Academy Sports + Outdoors, as well as many other great prizes.

"Academy Sports + Outdoors is an active member of the communities where we do business, and the Clinic gives us the opportunity to not only help support local little league players, but coaches as well," Senior Regional Promotions Coordinator for Academy Sports + Outdoors Matt Gardiner said.
