HOW IT HAPPENED:

Oklahoma City loaded the bases and LF Steward Berroa hit a sacrifice fly to center field giving the Comets an early 1-0 edge in the first.

The Express put two runners on with a DH Chad Wallach single and a walk from LF Kellen Strahm. RF Marcus Smith smoked a double into right-center scoring two and Round Rock led 2-1 in the second.

The Comets response came with six runs on four hits in the top of the third. DH Hunter Feduccia hit a bases-loaded single that scored one. 3B Nick Senzel then launched a grand slam onto the berm in left field. A pitch later, CF Justin Dean belted his third homer of the year extending the Oklahoma City lead to 7-2.

In the fifth, Berroa drew a leadoff walk then stole second. He moved to third on a groundout and scored on Senzel’s single. The Comets led 8-2 before the game was suspended in the middle of the fifth due to lightning in the area.

Following the 45-minute delay, the Comets held Round Rock to just two hits in the final five innings ultimately tying the series with their 8-2 win.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

SMITH’S FIRST SIX: RF Marcus Smith recorded the E-Train’s lone RBIs with his double in the second inning. In six games with the Express, Smith is batting .333 with a 1.298 OPS. He has been on base all six games.

LEAVING ‘EM ON: The Express went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position in Friday’s loss. They are last in the PCL slugging .370 with runners in scoring position and are tied for last in the league with 135 RBI when runners are in scoring position.

KEEPING IT IN THE PARK: Round Rock’s season-long, five-game home run streak came to an end on Friday night.
