Oklahoma City Takes Opener 4-3 Over Round Rock

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Oklahoma City jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. DH Ryan Fitzgerald reached on a ground-rule double and then advanced to third when 3B Nick Senzel singled. 1B Ryan Ward knocked in Fitzgerald to give the Comets a 1-0 lead.
Oklahoma City loaded the bases in the third inning before SS Noah Miller drove in two runs to extend the Comets' advantage to 3-0.
The Express quickly responded in the top of the fourth inning. RF Alejandro Osuna singled to start the inning before 1B Jonah Bride launched his second home run of the season to put Round Rock on the board and cut the deficit to 3-2.
Oklahoma City expanded its lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with a home run by Senzel, giving the Comets a 4-2 lead.
The E-Train rallied in the ninth inning to cut the deficit to one. Round Rock loaded the bases, setting up DH Cooper Johnson to knock in his first RBI of the season. The Express could not find the tying run, dropping the series opener, 4-3.
E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:
BRIDE: 1B Jonah Bride went 1-3 with a two-run home run and a walk on Tuesday night. Bride knocked his second home run of the season and leads Express hitters in home runs (2) and is tied for first in RBI (6). Bride is tied for second in the PCL among first baseman in balls in play (17).
CLOSE CALLS: Despite their 2-8 record, Round Rock owns a run differential of -18. They have lost four one-run games and five games by two runs or less. Of the 10 games, eight have been decided by three runs or less. The Express have had the go-ahead run on first base in the ninth inning in three of their last four losses.
THE FOSS: INF Justin Foscue went 1-for-4 on Tuesday. He has a nine-game hitting streak to start the year and a 13-game hitting streak dating back to 2025. Through eight games, he leads the club in all four slash line categories .324(12-37)/.375/.486/.861.
