Round Rock Falls Short, Salt Lake Earns 3-1 Win

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Salt Lake took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. A leadoff walk for 2B Kyren Paris was followed up by a DH Christian Moore double and it was 1-0. After LF Niko Kavadas grounded out to move Moore to third base, 1B Carter Kieboom collected the first of his four hits with a single to scratch another run across.

Round Rock scored their lone run in the sixth inning. 3B Cody Freeman lifted a leadoff home run to right field and the Express trailed, 2-1. The Bees answered with a run in the home half. After Kieboom singled, SS Chad Stevens doubled and Kieboom came around to score, which extended the lead to 3-1. The Express threatened in the ninth inning after a leadoff single for RF Billy McKinney but Bees RHP Michael Darrell-Hicks retired the next three to end the game.
