Express Fall on Friday Night to Space Cowboys, 5-2
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Space Cowboys struck first to open the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. DH Collin Price doubled and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. CF Kellen Strahm followed with an RBI single to drive in Price and give Sugar Land an early 1-0
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Space Cowboys struck first to open the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. DH Collin Price doubled and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. CF Kellen Strahm followed with an RBI single to drive in Price and give Sugar Land an early 1-0 edge.
3B CJ Alexander extended Sugar Land’s lead in the third with a solo home run and gave the Space Cowboys a 2-0 lead.
Round Rock scored in the fourth to cut the deficit to one as 3B Jonah Bride belted his fourth homer of the year.
The Space Cowboys regained their two-run lead in the fifth inning after RF James Nelson hit a solo home run to make it a 3-1 game.
Sugar Land added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. SS Jax Biggers and Strahm reached base on consecutive walks then came into score on an error to give the Space Cowboys a 5-1 advantage.
The Express did not go down quietly in the ninth inning as they were able to push across one run. Bride walked to start the inning and RF Aaron Zavala followed with a single. 2B Richie Martin grounded out, but both runners advanced to second and third on the play. DH Nick Pratto hit a sacrifice fly to score Bride from third and cut the lead to three. The E-Train did not bring the tying run in the to the plate in the ninth and fell by a final of 5-2.
E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:
JONAH JAM: 1B Jonah Bride went 1-for-3 on Friday night with a home run and a walk while scoring both of Round Rock’s runs. Bride leads all Express players in batting average (.306), runs (16), home runs (4), RBIs (19) and walks (19). Bride leads all infielders in the PCL with four home runs and ranks third in RBIs (min. 20 PA).
ANYTIME ANDERSON: RHP Aidan Anderson was the first man out of the bullpen on Friday night and tossed two scoreless innings and allowing just one hit and a walk. It was his first scoreless outing of the season.
