Express Take Early 6-0 Lead Before Space Cowboys Battle Back and Win 7-6

SUGAR LAND, Tex. - BOX SCORE HOW IT HAPPENED: Round Rock CF Dustin Harris sent the first pitch of the game into the visitor’s bullpen giving the E-Train an early 1-0 advantage. Two batters later, 2B Cody Freeman belted a solo home run and the Express led 2-0 after one.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Round Rock CF Dustin Harris sent the first pitch of the game into the visitor’s bullpen giving the E-Train an early 1-0 advantage. Two batters later, 2B Cody Freeman belted a solo home run and the Express led 2-0 after one.

In the second, Harris hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing C Konner Piotto to tag from third and score. In his second at-bat, Freeman recorded his second homer of the night. Freeman’s three-run shot doubled the E-Train lead to 6-0.

Sugar Land 1B Collin Price put the Space Cowboys on the board with a RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. After CF Kenedy Corona drew a walk, RF Colin Barber reached on a 1B Blaine Crim fielding error and two runs came around to score on the play. The Space Cowboys trailed 6-3 after four.

Corona and Barber drew a pair of walks to start the bottom of the ninth. Sugar Land SS Jesús Bastidas evened the score with a three-run homer sending it to extra-innings.

Sugar Land’s PR Quincy Hamilton was the pinch runner on second to start the bottom of the tenth. Hamilton moved up to third on 3B Edwin Diaz’s flyout. With two down, Corona poked a single down the right field line and Hamilton came home as the Space Cowboys took game three, 7-6.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

LAND OF THE FREE(MAN): 2B Cody Freeman went 2-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in his second multi-homer game this year. Since May 23, Freeman is slashing .368/.426/.618/1.044 with nine doubles, nine homers, 35 RBI, 34 runs scored, 15 walks and 15 strikeouts in 34 games with a hit in 30 of them.

STAY WINNING: In his return to Triple-A, RHP Cole Winn threw 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three batters out of the bullpen. Winn has not allowed an earned run at the Triple-A level this year, holding the longest active streak at 25.1 consecutive innings.
