WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. The fifth five-game winning streak of the season came to unceremonious end for the Sacramento River Cats, as they failed to find a run against the Reno Aces and suffered a 3-0 shutout loss on Friday.

Despite logging eight hits in the contest, only one of which went for extra bases thanks to a double by Grant McCray, the River Cats (14-17/58-48) failed to muster a run against the Aces’ (17-13/52-53) pitching staff. Drawing the start was Tommy Henry (5-1), tossing five innings of scoreless ball while striking out six in the process.

That double from McCray extended his hitting streak to 10 games, making him the fifth River Cat this season with a 10-game or longer hitting streak. He joins Jerar Encarnacion (18 games), David Villar (16 games), Casey Schmitt (15 games), and Donovan Walton (10 games) as the River Cats to eclipse the 10-game mark in 2024. The five River Cats with a 10-game or longer hitting streak is their most since they also had five Cats accomplish it a total of seven times during the 2021 season.

Reno stayed strong down the stretch thanks to their bullpen, who combined to allow four of the eight hits and walked only three. On last for the Aces was Luis Frias (S, 4), who worked a scoreless ninth but walked a pair and struck out one for his fourth save of the year.

Outside of McCray, Jakson Reetz also had a pair of hits, ending his night going 2-for-3 with a walk. Additionally, a trio of other River Cats also had hits in Trenton Brooks, Blake Sabol and Christian Koss.

Sacramento will look to get back on the winning side tomorrow when the two teams take the field of Sutter Health Park for first pitch at 6:37 p.m.
