Syracuse, NY – The Syracuse Mets used a late offensive surge to pull away from the Toledo Mud Hens, 4-2, on Wednesday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium.

Syracuse (3-2) struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Nick Morabito singled to begin the frame, stole second, and moved to third before Christian Arroyo lined an RBI double, giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.

In his Triple-A- debut, Jack Wenninger got the start and turned in a solid outing. The right-hander worked 4.2 innings, allowed five hits and no runs. Wenninger struck out five strikeouts and walked one.

After several scoreless innings, the Mets added to their lead in the fifth. Ronny Mauricio worked a walk and Ryan Clifford followed with a single. With runners at the corners, Arroyo delivered again with an RBI single, extending the advantage to 2-0.

Toledo (1-4) responded in the sixth inning. Jace Jung doubled to start the rally, and after a walk, Gage Workman and Tomás Nido each knocked in a run with RBI singles, tying the game, 2-2.

Syracuse answered in the eighth inning. José Rojas drew a walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Jackson Cluff, who moved into scoring position. Ben Rortvedt then laced an RBI double to bring home Cluff and put the Mets back in front, 3-2. Moments later, Cristian Pache followed with an RBI single, adding insurance and making it 4-2.

On the mound, Jonathan Pintaro was sharp in relief, working two shutout innings to pick up the win. After Pintaro, Austin Warren shut the door with a clean ninth inning, striking out one and securing the save.

Syracuse continues its six-game series with Toledo on Thursday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
