Game One:
In the first game of the day, Zach Logue (1-0) took the mound for the Mud Hens while Konnor Pilkington (0-2) got the start for the Clippers.
After a scoreless first inning, Jonathan Davis reached on a walk in the top of the second and promptly stole second base. Brendon Davis’s line drive scored Jonathan Davis to give the Mud Hens an early 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second, the Clippers threatened with a walk and a double that put runners on second and third with two outs. However, Logue forced a flyout to end the inning and maintain Toledo’s one-run lead.
Both teams were held scoreless in the third inning before the Clippers earned another scoring opportunity in the bottom of the fourth. Logue walked three batters to load the bases before being replaced by Matt Wisler with two outs. Wisler faced Richie Palacios, who hit a ground ball that looked like a sure game-tying hit before John Valente made a diving play to get the out at first and keep the Mud Hens ahead, 1-0.
