GAME RECAP (TOLEDO, OH): The Toledo Mud Hens were looking to close the series with a win, against the Scranton Wilkes/Barre RailRiders. A win for Toledo would also give them a series victory. RHP Michael Pineda began his second rehab assignment, as he took the mound for the Mud Hens. Pineda looked to obtain his first winning decision of the season, and looked to get a healthy rep in, hoping to play in Detroit again this season.

It did not take long for Scranton to draw first blood, as they would hit a solo shot to left in the first inning. Then in the second, they would score on a wild pitch with two outs. The RailRiders led 2-0, heading into the third.

In the sixth inning, Scranton would come up with another homer, hitting a two-run blast to left. The big hit would extend their lead, with a score of 4-0. However, the home run parade continued for Scranton, when Oswald Peraza hit his second homer of the game, giving Scranton a 5-0 lead.

The Scranton Wilkes/Barre RailRiders would hold Toledo quiet through six innings, as they held them down to just one hit. The only hit for Toledo was obtained in the first inning, when CF Daz Cameron hit a two out double. Cameron now has six doubles with Toledo this year. 1B Josh Lester would end the slump with a base hit to left field, in the seventh. Next, 3B Brendon Davis would follow up with a single for himself. The next batter, RF Kerry Carpenter drove in the first run with an RBI single to right center. Carpenter now has four RBIs in his first two games with Toledo. During the next at-bat, 3B Brendon Davis would score on a wild pitch, making it a 5-2 game, heading into the eighth.

The home run parade continued for Scranton, as they would tally their fourth homer of the ballgame in the top half of the eighth. The home run gave the RailRiders a 6-2 lead. However, that was not the end of the parade. Scranton would hit their fifth homer of the game, striking a two-run shot in the ninth. The RailRiders would win tonight’s game, with a score of 8-2, splitting the series with the Toledo Mud Hens in the series finale.

McCLENDON ON PINEDA: “I thought the ball came out well. He got a little fatigued, but he found his pitches.”

Pineda finished the night going 3.2 innings, allowing five hits, two runs, and one walk. During his innings of work, he tallied two strikeouts.

NOTABLE BATTERS:

RF Kerry Carpenter: 1-3, RBI, BB

CF Daz Cameron: 1-4, 2B
