Former Albuquerque Isotopes infielder Elehuris Montero has been named Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for May, it was announced today by Major League Baseball.

Montero produced one of the most torrid months in Isotopes history. He slashed .393/.451/.753 with five doubles, nine homers and 30 RBI in 22 contests. In May, he paced the circuit in total bases (67), home runs, RBI while ranking second in hits (35), batting average and slugging percentage. Additionally, Montero hit safely in 18 of 22 games played during the month while producing 12 multi-hit performances.

On May 29, Montero’s efforts were rewarded, as he was recalled by the Rockies after originally starting the season in the Major Leagues. He had been optioned to Albuquerque on April 25 and compiled a slash line of .383/.435/.765 with five doubles, 13 homers and 38 RBI in 28 total contests at Triple-A.

In 121 total contests with the Isotopes over the last three seasons, Montero has a .320 batting average with 61 extra-base hits (24 doubles, three triples, 34 homers) to go along with 109 RBI.

Montero is the sixth Isotope to win League Player of the Month honors, joining Scott Seabol (May 2006), Ryan McMahon (June 2017), Mike Tauchman (June 2018), Taylor Motter (July 2021) and Wynton Bernard (July 2022).
