New Orleans Pounds Albuquerque in Series Opener

The Isotopes (53-59) pitching staff allowed a season-high 18 runs to New Orleans as the Baby Cakes (51-60) defeated Albuquerque, 18-7, on Saturday. With the loss, the Isotopes have fallen to 9.5 games out of first place, the furthest out the club has been all season.

Isotopes pitchers issued nine walks while striking out just two opposing batters. The nine bases on balls matched a season-high for the Albuquerque staff. The Isotopes have allowed 40 runs in four games so far in the month of August
The highlight of the night for Albuquerque came when Mike Tauchman connected on a grand slam in the bottom of the third inning, which gave the Isotopes a 5-4 lead at the time.
The slam was the second in as many nights for the Isotopes as Noel Cuevas accomplished the feat on Friday.
Matt Holliday finished the night 0-for-2 with a run scored, RBI and three walks.
The Isotopes look to right the ship on Sunday when Sam Howard takes the hill for Albuquerque. First pitch from Isotopes Park is set for 6:05 p.m.
