CURVE, Pa. -- Battery mates Domingo Robles and Jason Delay powered the Altoona Curve to an 8-2 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats on Wednesday at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Robles (Win, 3-6) started for the Curve (64-64, 27-32) and tied a career-high with nine strikeouts in a season-high-tying seven innings for his first win since June 27. Delay led the way at the plate with two home runs and a career-best five RBIs.

The Yard Goats (66-60, 29-29) loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first, but Robles got Alan Trejo to hit into an inning-ending, 6-4-3 double play. The left-hander walked Hartford pitcher Matt Dennis (Loss, 4-3) to start the third inning, then retired the next 11 batters in order before a two-out single in the sixth broke the streak. After six scoreless frames, Robles allowed his only run of the night with two outs in the seventh on an RBI, infield single from pinch-hitter Scott Burcham.
The game was scoreless through three innings before the Curve jumped on Dennis for four runs in the fourth. Logan Hill opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly to right and two batters later, Delay cranked a three-run homer to left, just out of the reach of Hartford left fielder Vance Vizcaino. Delay blasted a two-run shot to left-center in the sixth for his second long ball of the game to extend the Curve lead to 6-0. It's the second multi-homer game (Chris Sharpe ) and third five-RBI game (Hunter Owen , Jared Oliva ) for a Curve player this season. Dennis struck out seven batters but allowed six runs on eight hits in six innings.
The Curve added two more runs in the seventh off Yard Goats reliever Tate Scioneaux. Pinch-hitter Bralin Jackson led off the frame with a single and reached third on a two-base error by center fielder Manny Melendez. Sharpe brought Jackson home with a double into the left fielder corner and Oneil Cruz , who went 3-for-4, plated Sharpe with his second double of the contest.
Yeudy Garcia worked a perfect eighth inning in relief of Robles, then ran into trouble in the ninth. Garcia walked two batters and allowed a bloop single to load the bases before the Yard Goats brought home a run on a sacrifice fly from pinch-hitter Vince Fernandez. Jesus Liranzo took over for Garcia and retired the only batter he faced to end the game.
The Curve went 4-2 on their six-game homestand and have won two straight series for the first time in the second half.
After a four-game road trip to Bowie, the Curve return home on Monday, August 26 for their final homestand of the season, a four-game series against the Akron RubberDucks.
