BOWIE, Md. – With two outs and the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Jud Fabian crushed a walk-off grand slam for the Bowie Baysox as the Curve fell in walk-off fashion for the second straight night, 6-2, on Saturday at Prince George’s Stadium.

Cameron Junker entered in the ninth inning for the Curve with the game even at two runs apiece. After recording two quick outs, he allowed a single to Collin Burns before issuing back-to-back walks to load the bases for Fabian, who drove the fourth pitch of the at-bat over the left-field wall to win the game.

Altoona’s two runs both came off the bat of catcher Abrahan Gutierrez, who recorded his third-straight multi-hit game in the loss. In the second inning, Gutierrez drove an RBI-double to left field off Bowie starter Trace Bright, scoring Kervin Pichardo. Later, Gutierrez tied the game in the eighth inning on an RBI-single off former Curve LHP Trey McGough.

Braxton Ashcraft tossed 4.1 innings for the Curve in the start, his longest appearance since May 20, 2021, with the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He allowed one run on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts. The lone run came on a Frederick Bencosme home run in the second inning.

Chris Gau followed with 1.2 innings of relief, allowing one run on a Bencosme RBI-single in the sixth inning. Eddy Yean tossed two scoreless frames with three strikeouts in relief of Gau before Junker took over for the ninth inning.

Gutierrez, Seth Beer, and Tres Gonzalez each had three hits in the loss, as the Curve finished the contest with 13 hits as a squad. Pichardo stole his first base of the season for Altoona.

Altoona finishes its six-game series with Bowie on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. RHP Kyle Brnovich will take the mound for the Baysox with LHP Anthony Solometo set to start for the Curve.
