BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox employed a three-run fourth to complete a three-game sweep of the Altoona Curve, 5-2, on Thursday at Prince George's Stadium.
The Curve (21-21) stand at .500 for the first time since April 29 following three straight losses to the Baysox (22-23) and suffer their first sweep of year.
Altoona gathered one run against Bowie starter Logan Long (Win, 1-5), who held the Curve to five hits over seven innings. The lone run versus Long scored in the fifth, an inning started by a double from Logan Hill . A single by Jin-De Jhang moved Hill to third base and Stephen Alemais brought him home on a sacrifice fly.
Darion Agrazal (Loss, 3-2) shouldered his second straight loss after the Baysox scored four against the Curve starter. Anthony Santander clobbered a solo homer off the right-field foul pole in the first for the ballgame's first run. Agrazal then retired six straight once he got clear of a double by Anderson Feliz in the second. Feliz extended the Baysox lead to 2-0 on an RBI single in front of Erick Salcedo's sacrifice fly and Cedric Mullins' RBI single to hand Bowie a 4-0 edge.
Feliz ended the day 3-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases, two RBIs and a double in addition to an eighth-inning homer off Tate Scioneaux .
Ke'Bryan Hayes led off the ninth inning and smacked his second Double-A homer to narrow the gap before the Curve went down in order to end the game.
Cole Tucker went 2-for-4 with one stolen base while Jason Martin went 0-for-4 and failed to get on-base to end his on-base streak at 14 games.
Logan Sendelbach worked two hitless innings of relief for Altoona during the fifth and sixth despite matching a season-high three walks. Sendelbach stranded baserunners in scoring position in each of his scoreless innings.
The Curve travel to Harrisburg next and begin a four-game series against the Washington Nationals Double-A affiliate on Friday. Left-hander Brandon Waddell (2-0, 1.66) will start for Altoona in the series opener and right-hander Brady Dragmire (3-2, 2.45) will take the hill for the Senators.
After spending Memorial Day weekend in Pennsylvania's state capital, the Curve return home for a brief, three-game homestand against the Akron RubberDucks starting on Tuesday. For tickets or more information, visit AltoonaCurve.com, call 877.99.CURVE or stop by the PNG Field box office.
