CURVE, Pa. – Matt Gorski slugged his 22nd home run of the season, but Altoona managed just one hit off the Erie bullpen as the SeaWolves defeated the Curve, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Peoples Natural Gas Field.

Gorski came to the plate with one away in the fourth inning and sent a 3-2 pitch over the center field wall off starter Chance Kirby. It was his third homer of the week and his fifth with Altoona this season to tie the game 1-1. The Curve would manage just one more hit after that shot, totaling three on the day in the loss.

Kerry Carpenter sent a solo shot of his own in the top of the fourth inning off reliever Bear Bellomy to make it a 1-0 game. Carpenter and Gorski both stand at the top of Minor League Baseball with 22 home runs on the campaign. Bellomy allowed the one run in two innings with a walk and a strikeout.

The SeaWolves brought a run across in the seventh inning against Tahnaj Thomas. After a pair of one-out walks, Erie got runners to second and third on a groundout from Chris Rabago. Andre Lipcius then scored on a wild pitch with two outs to take the lead for Erie. It was the lone run allowed by Thomas in two innings with two strikeouts.

Quinn Priester made his Double-A debut in the outing, striking out three batters and allowing just one hit over three scoreless innings. J.C. Flowers threw the final two innings of the contest, allowing just one hit and striking out two.

Kirby went four innings for Erie in the contest, allowing one run on two hits. Yaya Chentouf, Brendan White (W, 2-3), Adam Wolf, and Zac Houston (S, 3) combined to toss five shutout innings to close out the game for Erie. The win gave the series to the SeaWolves, who won four of six at PNG field this week.
