Four ‘Wolves Homers Sink Curve

ERIE, Pa. – A night after Altoona hit three homers on their way to a win, Erie returned the favor with four homers in a 10-1 win over the Curve on Friday night at UPMC Park in Erie.

The Curve took advantage of an Erie error in the first inning to earn the game’s first run. Lonnie White Jr. reached on an error by Erie 3B E.J. Exposito and stood at second with two outs when Easton Carmichael swatted a single into left field to take a 1-0 lead.

Nick Dombkowski made his third appearance, second start, for the Curve and was tagged for three runs; all scoring on home runs in three innings. Erie’s Peyton Graham homered off Dombkowski in the bottom of the first and catcher Thayron Liranzo hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the third to make it a 4-1 game.

Emmanuel Chapman followed out of the bullpen and tossed two scoreless frames before running into trouble in the sixth inning when Erie put the game away with four runs. Chapman surrendered four straight hits before leaving and Cristhian Tortosa allowed two inherited runners to score that allowed Erie to take a 8-1 lead.

The SeaWolves put the game away with solo homers in the eighth inning from Patrick Lee and Josue Briceno to put the final touches on the game.

White Jr. continued his hot hitting at the plate by reaching in each of his first three plate appearances. Over his last 18 games he’s hitting .420 (29-for-69) with a 1.300 OPS. Murf Gray drew a pair of walks in the defeat, he has reached base safely in all 17 games played with Altoona, recording a .405 on-base percentage. Javier Rivas added two singles in the defeat, his 11th multi-hit game of the season.

Altoona continues their series at Erie on Saturday night at 6:05 p.m. Altoona will send LHP Connor Oliver to the mound while the SeaWolves are slated to start RHP Max Alba.
