BOWIE, MD – Travis MacGregor tossed a career high 6.1 innings and struck out a season high eight batters as the Curve topped the Baysox, 3-2, on Thursday night at Prince George’s Stadium.

MacGregor’s eight strikeouts were a season high. He allowed one run on three hits and did not walk a batter in one of his best starts of the season.

Altoona jumped out to the early 2-0 lead on a two-run home run from Matt Fraizer, his third of the year with the Curve. Fraizer finished the day 2-for-3, his 12th multi-hit game for Altoona.

Oneil Cruz stretched the lead to 3-0 on an opposite field home run in the third inning. It was the second straight game with a home run for Cruz, his 12th of the season.

All three runs in the contest for Altoona came through a home run. The Curve only managed three hits in the win, with a single from Fraizer in the eighth inning the only hit for Altoona after the Cruz home run.

After six shutout innings, MacGregor ran into some trouble in the seventh. After hitting Zach Watson with a pitch with one out, Andrew Daschbach doubled to end MacGregor’s outing. Oddy Nunez came into the game and allowed Watson to score on a Toby Welk ground out.

Nunez allowed a run to cross in the eighth on a Jordan Westburg RBI single. He finished the day allowing one run on two hits in 1.1 innings of work. Shea Murray earned his fourth save of the season in 1.1 innings of shutout work, striking out two batters.

Ji-Hwan Bae finished the contest 0-for-4, snapping his 25 game on-base streak that stretched back to August 15. The win marked the first of the series for Altoona, who is now 1-3 on the week and an even 57-57 on the campaign with three games to go. The win snapped a 10-game winning streak for Bowie.
