HODGETOWN, the home of the Sod Poodles, encapsulates the idea of a common place for the community to gather from all areas throughout the Texas Panhandle.
"HODGE" recognizes and gives thanks to Jerry Hodge, who spearheaded the effort along with other community leaders to bring affiliated, professional baseball back to Amarillo. Jerry is a family-man, pharmacist, businessman, civic leader, philanthropist, and long-time Amarillo resident that has made an amazing impact in the Amarillo community over the past 50 years.
"TOWN", defined in the Prairie Dog culture as "multiple colonies forming one large community", reflects the concept of the ballpark being a gathering place for everyone in the Panhandle to enjoy professional baseball and other events as one large community.
HODGETOWN ties together the Sod Poodles brand into the ballpark with appreciation to Jerry and tells a story that is authentically Amarillo.
HODGETOWN is located in the heart of downtown Amarillo and opens in early April as the newest sports and entertainment destination in Amarillo, with state-of-the-art facilities and an unprecedented commitment to quality and service. It will feature a full range of programming that includes professional and affiliated baseball as well as events like high school and college games, concerts, themed events, and much more. The venue will play host and bring guests from all around the nation to downtown Amarillo annually.
