North Augusta, SC: On Thursday night, the GreenJackets scored five times in the 2nd inning, while Jake Wong went five innings on the hill to help the GreenJackets win the series opener over Charleston 7-5.

In the 2nd inning, the GreenJackets bats went to work. After Tanner Myatt, Charleston's starter, only went one inning, the GreenJackets scored five runs on five hits in the 2nd inning. Jose Layer had an RBI single, and it was Shane Matheny and Jacob Gonzalez who both contributed singles while driving in two runs each making it 5-0 GreenJackets.
Augusta went back to work in the 3rd inning. After the inning started off the same exact way as the 2nd, the bases were loaded and Jose Layer drew a walk this time to bring home a run and make it 6-0 GreenJackets. Matheny walked with the bases loaded as well to get his 3rd RBI of the game and make it 7-0 Augusta.
Jake Wong allowed an RBI single in the 4th to Josh Breaux, but that was all he would allow for the game. Wong ends his night after five innings, allowing one run and striking out four, while only walking one.
With Augusta leading 7-1 in the 7th, Charleston began their comeback attempt. After an RBI single from Eric Wagaman, Canaan Smith came up and hit a three-run home run off Tyler Schimpf to make it just a 7-5 GreenJackets lead. Jesus Tona got his 3rd save of the year in the 9th inning and the GreenJackets picked up a 7-5 win on Thursday.
