Shorebirds Get Stung By GreenJackets

Salisbury, MD: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, won 10-0 on Sunday afternoon against the Delmarva Shorebirds.

The GreenJackets played their most complete game of the season in dominating the Shorebirds. The pitching, hitting, and fielding were at their best in Sunday's ballgame,
On the mound, John Gavin went four innings giving up only one hit. He then gave the ball to John Russell who went three innings giving up three hits. Russell earned his fourth win of the season which ties him for the most in the South Atlantic League. Then in his first appearance for the GreenJackets, Ryan Koziol kept the Shorebirds hitless over two innings.
At the plate, the entire GreenJackets team contributed to the ten runs put on the board. Jeffry Parra stood out with his two-run home run and a four RBI day. Also Shane Matheny who just returned to the GreenJackets lineup yesterday, hit a two-run home run as well.
In the field, Heliot Ramos in center field and Logan Baldwin in left field both had jaw-dropping plays that took extra base hits away from the Shorebirds.
The GreenJackets now have the best record in the South Atlantic League as they sit at 20-9 on the season. They will go for the series win against Delmarva tomorrow night at 7:05 pm.
After the road trip, starting May 9^th, the GreenJackets will be back home for a homestand against the Rome Braves. Wednesday night will be Big Beers, Brats, and BBQ night presented by Maurice's Piggy Park. The next night, we will have Thirsty Thursday presented by Scene Nightclub and Tribute to Nurses where we honor medical professionals all around the CSRA. Finally on Friday, we will have Dr. Rogers and Andrews Orthodontics patients celebration night at SRP Park. The game will also be Ladies Night, followed by kids running the bases presented by Moe's Southwest Grill at the conclusion of the game.
The fun doesn't stop there as the GreenJackets welcome the Greensboro Grasshoppers to town for a four game series. On May 12^th, the GreenJackets will have Pink in the Park, State Farm Family Saturdays, Saturday concert series performance #3, postgame fireworks, and kids-run-the-bases presented by Moe's Southwest Grill. On the 13^th, we will celebrate Mother's Day, as we give away Picture Frames to the first 1,500 guests presented by Augusta University. We will also have pre-game catch on the field and kids-run-the-bases presented by Moe's Southwest Grill. On the 14^th, we will have Military Monday and reading program night #5. On the 15^th, there will be Comfort Keepers Baseball Bingo and Education Day #2. Gates will open at 9 am!
