Bisons release 2014 schedule

Opening Day, School Kids Day and Star Wars Night announced

Baseball fans in Western New York and Southern Ontario can plan for another exciting season at Coca-Cola Field next summer as the Bisons today released their 2014 Playing Schedule & Game Times. The greatest sports holiday, Opening Day on Thursday, April 3 against the Rochester Red Wings (2:05 p.m.) will start the 129th season of professional baseball in Buffalo.

Other Coca-Cola Field traditions have also been announced, including the team's annual School Kids Day on Thursday, June 5 against the Toledo Mud Hens (10:35 a.m.), the 7th annual Star Wars Night on Saturday, June 7 against the Syracuse Chiefs (6:05 p.m.) and the 20th Annual KeyBank Independence Eve Celebration on Thursday, July 3 against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (6:05 p.m.).

"It's always fun to look ahead and have the ability to think about the excitement of another summer at Coca-Cola Field," said Mike Buczkowski, Vice President/General Manager. "While the 2014 schedule looks great, the entire Bisons organization is still energized by what's in store over the final 17 home dates of this season. There are some fantastic promotions left and the Bisons are right in the mix of an exciting playoff chase."

The Bisons return home for the final month of the regular season on Saturday, August 3 (7:05 p.m.) to host the Pawtucket Red Sox on Celery Bobble Head Giveaway, presented by ROAR Logistics. Three fridaynightbash!® still remain in 2013 (August 9, 16 and 23) as does the team's annual Mystery Ball event on Thursday, August 22 to benefit Women & Children's Hospital.

The club also announced today that they have Added Fireworks to the scheduled Pirate Night on Saturday, August 24 and increased the fireworks to the show on Thursday, August 29's Fan Appreciation Night, making it the Largest Fireworks Show of the Season.

2014 Schedule Details
The 2014 schedule will feature 11 fridaynightbash! games, one more than the 2013 season. A total of 32 home contests will be played on a Friday, Saturday or a Sunday (44% of schedule) while 44 of 72 games (61%) will be played in the summer months of June, July and August.

Throughout the 2014 season, the Bisons will use the customary 7:05 p.m. start time for most evening games after the first month of the season. Most Sundays and weekday afternoon starts will have a 1:05 p.m. first pitch while a 6:05 p.m. first pitch will be used for various special event games.

The Bisons will announce tickets when season tickets for the 2014 season will go on sale in the fall.
