On a cool, but rain-free, night Coca-Cola Field Monday, the Bisons scored a pair of unconventional runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pick up an 8-6 victory over the Syracuse Chiefs.
With the game deadlocked at six, the Herd pushed across the game-winning runs with just one hit. With Jonathan Diaz aboard with a one-out walk, Roemon Fields singled to right field and both runners advanced when Chiefs' Brandon Snyder bobbled the base hit. With Diaz only 90-feet away, catcher Pedro Severino could not handle a pitch from Syracuse's Joe Nathan, allowing Diaz to score for the 7-6 lead.

Buffalo then added an insurance run when the speedy Fields came home on Chritian Lopes' grounder to short.
The other six runs scored by the Herd all came in the same inning. Buffalo sent 11 batters to the plate in the third to erase an early 3-0 Chiefs lead. Raffy Lopez and Fields each drove in a pair of runs in the frame, while Buffalo added another tally when Diaz was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

"This team is determined to have a good day. They always go out there and play hard," said manager Bobby Meacham.

The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for the Herd as the club was swept over the weekend in Lehigh Valley.
The game featured 15 hits and 14 total runs between both teams. Jeff Beliveau earned the win coming on in relief in the seventh, striking out four and not allowing a hit in two innings pitched. Wil Browing picked up his first save of the season coming on to close out the ninth.
The Bisons and the Chiefs will continue the series Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
