Blue Jays recall catcher Kratz from Bisons

Jack Murphy rejoins Herd, Chad Jenkins optioned by Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have recalled C ERIK KRATZ from the Buffalo Bisons and optioned RHP CHAD JENKINS to the Herd. The Bisons also announced that C JACK MURPHY has been promoted to the club from Double-A New Hampshire.

JENKINS began the 2014 season with the Bisons and was 1-1 with a 2.30 ERA and two saves in eight games with the Bisons (15.2 IP, 10 H, 11 SO). He was promoted to Toronto on April 25 and appeared in one game for the Blue Jays (1.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 SO).

MURPHY was on the Bisons Opening Day Roster and hit .200 (2-10) with a double and an RBI in three starts for the Herd. He was transferred to New Hampshire on April 18 and played 10 games with the Fisher Cats. Murphy hit .133 (4-30) with a double, a home run and two RBI.

KRATZ leaves the Bisons on a four-game hit streak, hitting .467 (7-15) with three doubles, a home run and four RBI since April 26. In 12 total games with Buffalo this year, the backstop has averaged .273 (9-33) with five RBI.
