Nolin, Jimenez join Bisons from Double-A New Hampshire

Prospects join Herd for big series in Pawtucket
August 17, 2013

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that C A.J. JIMENEZ and LHP SEAN NOLIN have been promoted to the team from Double-A New Hampshire. The club also announced that RHP BUDDY CARLYLE has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to August 15.

Both Jimenez and Nolin have joined the Bisons today for the start of a four-game series in Pawtucket. Nolin is scheduled to start for the Herd on Sunday afternoon (1:05 p.m.).

Nolin, 23, has spent most of the 2013 season with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. In 17 starts, the southpaw is 8-3 with a 3.01 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 92.2 innings of work. He's tied for the Fisher Cats' team lead with eight wins and his 3.01 ERA is just 6.0 innings shy of qualifying as the 2nd-best mark in the Eastern League.

The Blue Jays 6th round pick in 2010, Nolin made his MLB debut this season with Toronto and allowed six runs in a loss to Baltimore on May 24.

Jimenez, 23, played 50 games with New Hampshire and hit .276 (56-203) with 15 doubles, three home runs and 29 RBI. His season did not start until May after having 'Tommy John' surgery in May of 2012. Jimenez began his year by playing nine games with Single-A Dunedin and hit .429 (12-28) with a home run and nine RBI.

Carlyle is 4-2 with a 3.86 ERA in 36 games with the Bisons this season (56.0 IP, 76 SO).
