Bisons rally comes up short against Rochester on Saturday

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo Bisons were unable to answer early scoring by the Rochester Red Wings in a 7-3 loss on Saturday afternoon at Sahlen Field.

Yohendrick Piñango launched his ninth home run of the year with an out-of-the-park blast over Bully Hill. Peyton Williams had a strong day, going three-for-four.

Rochester took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Cayden Wallace hit an RBI double that scored Seaver King, and Leandro Pineda followed with an RBI single that brought home Wallace.

The Red Wings extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the second on an RBI single by Trey Lipscomb that scored Maxwell Romero Jr.

Grant Rogers retired the side in the top of the third and the fourth for the Bisons, striking out two.

Buffalo cut the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Piñango.

Rochester made it 5-1 in the top of the fifth on a two-run double by Wallace that scored Liover Peguero and Lipscomb.

Rogers retired the side once again in the top of the sixth, striking out two.

Yondrei Rojas retired the side in the top of the seventh for Buffalo, striking out one.

Wallace got home on a wild pitch to give Rochester a 6-1 lead in the top of the eighth.

The Red Wings extended their lead to 7-1 in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Romero Jr. that scored Sam Peterson.

The Bisons made it 7-3 in the bottom of the ninth. Anthony Santander hit an RBI double that scored Williams, and Daz Cameron followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Josh Rivera.

Buffalo and Rochester are scheduled for a 12:05 p.m. first pitch on Sunday afternoon at Sahlen Field for the season finale. Pregame coverage on The Bet 1520 AM, the Audacy app, and Bisons.com begin at 11:45 a.m.
