The Bisons entered Tuesday doubleheader in Pawtucket mired in a seven-game losing streak. And even though they put an end to that with a 2-1 victory in game one, the Herd was still in danger of ending the night on a losing note… until an impressive last-inning comeback completed a vital two-game sweep in the team's first twinbill of the season.
Richard Ureña's two-run single capped a four-run rally as the Bisons turned a 4-1 deficit into a 5-4, game two victory over the PawSox. That, combined with Jacob Waguespack's second win of the season in game one, gave Buffalo a pair of victories and their first series win of the year.
Pawtucket led game two almost throughout after a four-run second inning that included a two-run shot by Bisons-killer, Mike Miller. But the Herd finally broke through against the PawSox bullpen in the sixth inning when Cavan Biggio picked up a clutch two-out single to drive in Bo Bichette, who had doubled to lead off the frame.
Then in the seventh, the bottom of the Herd's batting order went to work. Patrick Cantwell led off with a double down the left field line, his second hit of the day. Gunnar Heidt worked a full-count walk and Andrew Guillotte loaded the bases with a first-pitch line drive single to left. After a wild pitch by former Bisons pitcher Jenrry Mejia scored Cantwell, Roemon Fields drew a walk to re-load the bases.
Bichette followed with a sacrifice fly to right to make it 4-3, but more importantly, Fields alertly took second when Bryce Brentz's throw from the outfield sailed all the way to home. That gave the Bisons two runners for Urena to cash in, which he did when his liner up the middle glanced off Mejia's glove and into centerfield.

With their first lead of game two, Derek Law closed it down by striking out the side in order in the bottom of the seventh for his first win as a Bison.
The Bisons were in position to earn the sweep because Waguespack allowed just one run on three hits over five innings of game one. He struck out six, including the last two batters he faced when Pawtucket was looking to snap a 1-1 tie. Instead, the Bisons took the lead an inning later when Anthony Alford walked, stole a pair of bases and scored on a wild pitch.
With the sweep, Buffalo is now 4-8 on the season and can earn a series sweep on Wednesday with a 6:05 p.m. first pitch against the PawSox at McCoy Stadium.
BISONS NOTES: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. only played game one and went hitless in three at-bats. It's the first time he has been held without a hit with the Herd this year…Just optioned from Toronto, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. also only played the first game of the night. He went 2-4 with a double and run scored…Cavan Biggio went a combined 3-4 with a walk in the two games combined. He's now hitting .432 on the young season.
