Bisons unable to hang onto late lead against Worcester

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo Bisons were unable to hang onto a late lead in a 4-2 loss to the Worcester Red Sox on Saturday evening at Sahlen Field.

Sabres night at the ballpark saw nearly 12,000 fans fill Sahlen Field. Nick Goodwin hit his first career Triple A home run with a solo shot in the fourth inning. Jose Rodriguez made his Bisons and Blue Jays organization debut on the mound after being acquired from the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Worcester took a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI double by Romy Gonzalez that scored Nate Eaton.

Richard Gallardo retired the side in the top of the second for the Bisons.

Buffalo tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Nick Goodiwn.

Gallardo retired the side once again in the top of the fifth for the Bisons. He worked six innings with one earned run and three strikeouts.

The Bisons took the lead in the in the bottom of the sixth. Goodwin got on base with a double, and Lenyn Sosa drove him in with an RBI single to give Buffalo a 2-1 lead.

Rodriguez threw a scoreless seventh inning for the Bisons, striking out one.

Worcester took a 4-2 lead in the top of the eighth. Gonzalez hit a sacrifice fly that scored Anthony Seigler, and Kristian Campbell launched a two-run home run that brought home Mikey Romero.

Chase Lee retired the side for Buffalo in the top of the ninth.

Buffalo and Worcester are scheduled for a 1:05 p.m. first pitch on Sunday afternoon at Sahlen Field for the final game of the series. Grant Rogers is slated to start on the mound for the Bisons. Pregame coverage on The Bet 1520 AM, the Audacy app, and Bisons.com begin at 12:45 p.m.
